■ Technology Overview
Hydrocarbon fuels are the key elements in the industrialized world and expected to be so in the future especially for the transportation. The fossil fuels demand in Taiwan is more than 150 million tons annually. Technology to produce low carbon fuels is therefore indispensable for the net-zero carbon emission generation. High active catalyst was designed for direct CO2 hydrogenation to olefins, which was unrestricted by the equilibrium. The technology made the production of low carbon fuels from carbon dioxide became realistic.
■ Applications
▶ Utilization of carbon dioxide captured from industrial flue gas(power plants, steel, cement,
chemical industry, and other high-carbon emission industries)
▶ Taiwan imports 150 million tons of fossil fuels every year. Low carbon fuels produced by
this technology can partially fulfill the need with a product value of more than NT$200
billion, which also potentially reduces~5million tons of carbon dioxide emission.
■ Technology Overview
The global polyolefin production capacity continues to expand, and commodity polyolefins is facing huge competition in market. Therefore, it is urgent to establish high-value-added and highperformance polyolefins in Taiwan. (Post-)Metallocene based polyolefins has the advantages of high activity, low PDI, uniform comonomer distribution, and high purity, and are especially suitable for special utilization. Our laboratory establishes polyolefin catalyst and polymerization technology, which accelerates domestic manufacturers to develop next-generation polyolefin products.
■ Applications
▶ Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene(UHMWPE): Green Energy(Electric-Cars/Wind
Energy), Medical Industry(artificial joint /IV Bag), Aerospace(rope/composite material)
▶ Metallocene based Polypropylene: Medicine & Hygiene product, ex.IV bag, Scrub, Mask, HEPA
filter, Water filter….
